So many women are now wearing fake hair, nails, lashes and the dreaded colored contacts. I’m not against any one of these (except colored contacts) but just like accessorizing you mustn’t over do it. It makes me question how you feel about your true self. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against women who wear a weave but what do you say for women who won’t leave home without their lace front, half wig, sew-in or ponytail on there head? Women, do you feel less beautiful without these things?
Men, do you form opinions about a woman when you see her adorned in several beauty additives if you will? I believe that this look has been fueled by the women we see in the media from Beyonce to up and coming female rapper Nicki Minaj. Wait lets not forget the lowly video vixen. We were created to be unique and with this new phenomenon everyone is started to look the same. What’s wrong with being different? Why would you want to see a girl on the street and say “Hey, you must have caught that sale on Spanish wavy that they had down at Longwood’s,” (I seriously witnessed this). Nothing is wrong with wanting to switch it up but for some it’s a little deeper than that. Let me know what your take is on this.

I am a natural type of gal myself. I always feared wearing make-up because I wanted to not look crazy the one day I opted to not wear it. My mom always has told me I should wear it but I feel better just doing me.
ReplyDeleteWith all this being said you wouldn't catch me in weaves, fake lashes, etc. But I don't necessarily judge those people I suppose. It is just not the life for me. Then again I wouldn't call myself a fashionista either! So maybe if I was I would try those things.
It does make you wonder though what these perceptions are doing to our youth????
Thanks for following me! I wonder about that too. There is this controversy now about Nicki Minaj and her Barbie image and saying she is the black Sarah Jessica Parker and Hanna Montana. At one point my teenage sister loved her and I have no idea why. People are even doing college parties with this Barbie theme. Wow.
ReplyDeleteFake hair doest bother me , but ppl who dont take care of it does... why come out the house looking like you were sweeping the floor with your hair......basically some women look good with it and some dont..and the whole make up thing im not a big fan of women who over do it or women who cant even go to the corner store without putting it on is sad! some women use this things as a vice because they are not comfortable in their own skin so they mask it with artificial confidence!..good blog homie!
